Jarman International Core 50 member, Mark Tofflemire, has recently joined the Deep Japan Senpai (writer) community, publishing his first article about his deep appreciation for Japan’s attention to small details.
Mark joined the Jarman International team in 2023 as an English Education Partner, bringing extensive experience from Japan’s educational sector. Now, he has expanded his involvement by joining Deep Japan’s newly relaunched platform as a Senpai writer, where he shares his unique perspective on Japanese culture, business, and daily life.

A long-time resident of Japan, Mark’s journey began in 1992 when he arrived from Canada on a one-year working holiday visa. What started as a short-term adventure quickly turned into a lifelong connection, and Tokyo has been his home ever since. With a career focused on education, Mark spent 12 years as a lecturer at The University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Medicine. Afterward, he founded Tailor Made, Inc., a business that provides English-related services to meet the needs of an increasingly global market.
In his first article, Mark explores the beauty of how people in Japan pay attention to even the smallest details—highlighting the deep-rooted respect for precision and care that permeates daily life. As someone who has spent over three decades in Japan, Mark offers valuable insights into the intricacies of Japanese culture and how they shape everyday experiences.
